Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson Unite and Concur on Climate Change Unite and Concur author hopes it starts a trend

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Not every issue is partisan, and the recent Climate Project Ad Campaign makes that point crystal clear. Pat Robertson and Al Sharpton joined forces in an ad urging action to protect the planet. And Unite and Concur author Meryl Runion, hopes that the ad campaign raises awareness about more than climate change. She hopes it's the beginning of people recognizing that not all issues are partisan.

"They call the ad an 'Unlikely Alliance,'" Runion says, but the only reason why such an alliance is considered unlikely is because our culture has grown polarized and been taught to think issues have to be either Republican or Democratic."

The Climate Project ad begins with Robertson and Sharpton saying they "strongly disagree" about a lot of things, but agree on the need to care for the Earth.

There are many ways to categorize differences, and one way is between those who want to be (In the words of Pat Robertson) "good stewards of the environment and do everything within our power to protect this fragile planet that we all live on" and those who don't.

Runion hopes the Climate Project ad campaign will start a trend for people coming together on the issues without assuming their party affiliation will make dialogue impossible. Runion claims, "One of the biggest roadblocks to reasonable dialogue is the pigeonholing of individuals and ideas into one political category or another, abandoning critical thinking about the issues, independent of other people's stands on the issues. This ad breaks that boundary down."

There's another thing to like about the campaign, according to Runion. It's the title of the website. Wecansolveit.com. She likes it because it's solution-oriented.
